Frequency auction in Mainz finished

This afternoon, at the Federal Network Agency’s site in Mainz, the frequency auction for wireless access for the provision of telecommunications services was completed. All the companies who qualified to take part in the auction bought frequency blocks.

Following 224 rounds over a total of 27 auction days, the total sum for the 41 frequency blocks comes to just under 4.4bn euro. This is made up of the following individual amounts:

Vodafone D2 GmbH – 1,422,503,000 euro (for a total of 12 blocks)

Telefónica O2 Germany GmbH & Co. OHG – 1,378,605,000 euro (for a total of 11 blocks)

Telekom Deutschland GmbH – 1,299,893,000 euro (for a total of 10 blocks)

Erste MVV Mobilfunk Vermögensverwaltungsgesellschaft mbH (E-Plus) – 283,645,000 euro (for a total of 8 blocks)

The attached overview of the closing 224th round shows which company purchased which frequency blocks.

At 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday 21 May 2010, the companies will receive their certificates at the Federal Network Agency premises at Canisiusstr. 21 in Mainz.
