Certification Service Providers supervised by the Bundesnetzagentur

The following information provides an overview of Certification Service Providers supervised by the Bundesnetzagentur. The directory as per sections 16(2) and 19(6) of the Signature Act (SigG) can be found here: Bundesnetzagentur directory service

Certification Service Providers currently active

This overview lists all legal persons currently active in Germany notified to the Bundesnetzagentur as issuers of qualified certificates or qualified time stamps (Certification Service Providers) under section 4(3) of the SigG in conjunction with sections 1 and 2 of the Ordinance on Electronic Signature .

The majority of these legal entities have received accreditation from the Bundesnetzagentur in accordance with section 15(1) of the SigG for all their activities as a certification service provider or just one of several certification services they offer. Accreditation demonstrates voluntary, extensive checks of a certification service by the Bundesnetzagentur. It is thus proof of the technical and administrative security of qualified signatures, based on qualified certificates by the provider's certification service that was examined. Accredited Certification Service Providers are given a quality mark by the Bundesnetzagentur in accordance with section 15(1) sentence 3 of the SigG.

It is possible that a certification service provider issues both qualified signatures and time stamps for which accreditation from the Bundesnetzagentur applies, as well as those which originate in a non-accredited area of activity for the legal entity solely notified under section 4(3) of the SigG.

For this reason, where necessary please also find out from accredited Certification Service Providers whether the qualified certificates or time stamps offered are from the verified secure accredited area.

Certification Service Providers no longer active

This overview contains all Certification Service Providers known to the Bundesnetzagentur who have ceased operations. Information on transfer of qualified certificates, continuation of the directory service, possibility of certificate verification or a legal successor to a provider may be found under provider details.
