Amateur Radio
Radio amateurs visiting Germany Many countries in the world allow German radio amateurs who are on a journey, for example, to use amateur radio stations in the visited country. The same applies vice versa to holders of a foreign radio amateur’s licence who wish to operate an amateur station in Germany. To do so, they need a temporary licence.
Licences with a validity of three months can be obtained from the Mülheim regional office of the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur, ASt Mülheim, Postfach 10 03 51, 45403 Mülheim, eMail: MLHM01.Postfach@bnetza.de. This regional office will also send you a special information sheet and an application form.
Radio amateurs holding a foreign amateur’s licence which indicates the CEPT licence class may participate in the amateur service in Germany for a period of up to three months without any further formalities required or charges payable. The same possibility is offered to German radio amateurs staying in a country that participates in the harmonised CEPT system. Applications for licences that cover a stay of more than three months shall be submitted to the Regulatory Authority’s regional office responsible for the respective place of residence.
