Eu­ro­pean Reg­u­la­tors Group for Postal Services (ERGP)

ERGP was established pursuant to a European Commission Decision on 10 August 2010 and started its operational activities in 2011. It advises and assists the Commission on matters relating to postal services. ERGP's objective is to help consolidate the internal postal services market and ensure consistent application of postal/parcel services legislation by facilitating consultation and cooperation among the national regulatory authorities in the EU and between the regulatory authorities and the Commission. ERGP comprises the national regulatory authorities of the 27 EU Member States. The Commission and the national postal regulatory authorities of the five EU candidate countries and four EFTA countries participate as observers to the group.

Tasks

ERGP advises and assists the European Commission:

  • in consolidating the internal market for postal services;
  • on any matters related to postal services within its competence;
  • as to the development of the internal market for postal services and the consistent application in all Member States of the regulatory framework for postal services.

ERGP carries out extensive consultations at an early stage with market participants, consumers and end-users in an open and transparent manner and in agreement with the Commission.
