Article 18(1) and (4) of the recast Gas Regulation specify discounts for renewable gas and low-carbon gas at entry points from and exit points to natural gas storage facilities (storage points) and at interconnection points between Member States (cross-border interconnection points). However, Article 18(5) permits regulatory authorities to derogate from these provisions.

The determination proceedings in accordance with Article 18(5) serve to not apply discounts for renewable gas and low-carbon gas at storage points and at cross-border interconnection points. The determination is addressed to all gas transmission system operators.
