The Bundesnetzagentur has tested the electrical safety of electric vehicle wallbox chargers in a joint campaign together with North Rhine-Westphalia’s state institute for occupational health and safety (LIA).
"The rise in the number of electric vehicles means that the quality and safety of wallbox chargers is becoming increasingly important. We are pleased to say that none of the products we tested had any serious faults,"
said Klaus Müller, President of the Bundesnetzagentur.
Test results
The Bundesnetzagentur and North Rhine-Westphalia’s state institute carried out tests on a random selection of wallboxes. All of the products tested were found to be safe to operate. The Bundesnetzagentur identified no potential risks in using the products. None of the products had faulty radio technology or caused interference. The faults found by the Bundesnetzagentur included missing markings.
Market surveillance
Market surveillance is the responsibility of various state and federal authorities, depending on the type of product. The Bundesnetzagentur is responsible for checking products with radio technology, including the safety of the products.
The state authorities are responsible for products without radio technology. The authority responsible in North Rhine-Westphalia is the state institute for occupational health and safety (LIA).
Further information about market surveillance is available on the Bundesnetzagentur’s website at www.bundesnetzagentur.de/marktueberwachung (in German).
