The Bundesnetzagentur has today published the results of the auction for solar installations on buildings and noise barriers that closed for bids on 1 June 2025.
"Nearly all the volume up for auction was awarded despite a lower combined bid volume,"
said Klaus Müller, President of the Bundesnetzagentur. "The awards were again spread evenly throughout the country. An even spread of new renewable capacity across Germany is to be welcomed."
Auction for solar installations on buildings and noise barriers
A total of 127 bids with a combined volume of 274 megawatts (MW) were submitted for the volume of 283 MW up for auction. The auction was thus slightly undersubscribed. The Bundesnetzagentur accepted 118 bids for a total volume of 255 MW.
The prices of the successful bids in the pay-as-bid auction ranged from 6.90 cents per kilowatt hour (ct/kWh) to 10.38 ct/kWh. The volume-weighted average award price was 9.22 ct/kWh, which was slightly higher than that in the previous round (9.10 ct/kWh) but considerably lower than the price ceiling of 10.40 ct/kWh.
The awards were again spread evenly throughout the country. The federal states with the largest volumes awarded for projects were North Rhine-Westphalia (51 MW, 25 awards), followed by Brandenburg (47 MW, 15 awards), Lower Saxony (33 MW, 16 awards) and Hesse (32 MW, 13 awards).
Bids were allowed for a volume higher than 1 MW and up to 20 MW. 79 successful bids were for a volume of up to 2 MW each. This followed the pattern in previous rounds. The largest individual bid volume was 20 MW.
The Bundesnetzagentur disqualified nine bids from the auction.
