The Bundesnetzagentur has today published the results of the auction for onshore wind farms that closed for bids on 1 August 2025.

"This auction round was again greatly oversubscribed. The volume of bids submitted of more than 5.7 GW is the second highest volume ever reached in a bidding round. The award values of the successful bids fell again when compared with the previous round," said Klaus Müller, President of the Bundesnetzagentur.

Four bidding rounds of falling award values

The auction was for a volume of 3,443 megawatts (MW). A total of 604 bids with a volume of 5,739 MW were submitted. The auction resulted in 376 bids with a total volume of 3,448 MW being awarded. Some 25 bids had to be excluded from the procedure.

The prices of the successful bids in the pay-as-bid auction ranged from 6.39 cents per kilowatt hour (ct/kWh) to 6.64 ct/kWh. The average volume-weighted award price in this round was again lower than the previous round of 6.83 ct/kWh and, at 6.57 ct/kWh, was well below the price ceiling of 7.35 ct/kWh.
The federal states with the largest volumes awarded were North Rhine-Westphalia (105 awards with a combined volume of 817 MW) and Lower Saxony (73 awards, 800 MW). The third largest volume awarded was for projects in Brandenburg (89 awards, 609 MW). This is the largest volume ever achieved in an auction in this federal state.
