The Bundesnetzagentur has today published the results of the auction for onshore wind farms that closed for bids on 1 November 2025.
“The volume of bids submitted of more than 8 GW is the highest volume ever reached in a bidding round. We are therefore pleased to be able to say that every single round in 2025 was oversubscribed. At the same time, the prices of the successful bids were again lower than in the previous round,
” said Klaus Müller, President of the Bundesnetzagentur.
High level of participation in auction
The auction was for a volume of 3,450 megawatts (MW). A total of 905 bids with a volume of 8,155 MW were submitted. The auction resulted in 415 bids with a total volume of 3,456 MW being awarded. Some 37 bids had to be excluded from the procedure.
The prices of the successful bids in the pay-as-bid auction ranged from 5.80 cents per kilowatt hour (ct/kWh) to 6.12 ct/kWh. The average volume-weighted award price in this round was again lower than that of the previous round of 6.57 ct/kWh and, at 6.06 ct/kWh, was well below the price ceiling of 7.35 ct/kWh.
The federal states with the largest volumes awarded were North Rhine-Westphalia (1,093 MW, 148 awards) and Lower Saxony (1,091 MW, 133 awards). The third largest volume awarded was for projects in Brandenburg (262 MW, 34 awards).
